School is out! Let’s discover and create together with family and friends at ACM. We dedicate this Children’s Season to reflecting on the values that have helped us through the pandemic and ways we stay connected with our loved ones.

To make our programmes more accessible, we now offer both online and self-guided activities at the museum.

GUIDED TOURS [sold-out]

 

Every Friday, from 27 Nov - 11 Dec: 11am, 3pm

 

Prefer to join a guided tour? Sign up for a one-hour tour led by our volunteer docents. 

The tour will be customised according to the themes of Children’s Season and will feature objects from our trail booklet. A tour is a great way to learn more about the unique pieces featured on the trail, as well as other objects in the galleries.

Limited slots available. 

A refundable deposit of $5 per pax is collected upon registration on Peatix. This deposit will be refunded 24-hours after the event. In the case of a of no-show, the deposit will be forfeited.

SELF-GUIDED TRAIL BOOKLET

Pick up a trail booklet from our friendly Visitor Services staff at the Front Desk. 

Go on a journey with your family to discover some interesting objects in ACM’s collection through fun learning. Be sure to keep an eye out for a few special pieces that embody the spirit of togetherness. A child-friendly audio clip featuring one of our trail objects is also available here.

MAKE YOUR OWN MINI SCRIBE'S TABLE

Assemble your own mini cardboard scribe’s table, based on the exquisite Turkish one we have in our collection. 

Pick up a free craft kit* from our Visitor Services staff at the Front Desk. The scribe’s table can be assembled at home.

*A craft kit will be given to each child, with an admission sticker. While stocks last.

MURPHY, SEE HOW YOU SHINE! by Chen Wei Teng and Sherry Soon

Join author-storyteller Chen Wei Teng and Be Kind SG founder Sherry Soon as they bring you a fun morning of music and songs sharing a story celebrating the diversities in all of us. This story about Murphy, a special assistance dog, touches upon the themes of inclusion, kindness,  and friendship.

You will get a chance to make an origami dog with the storyteller too. Prepare a square piece of paper and a marker or pen for the origami activity. Even better if your piece of paper is brown!

Leila receives a handwritten invitation to a very special ceremony. The whole family is excited about this celebration. You are welcome to attend too!

Join Rosemarie Somaiah from Asian Storytelling Network as she brings together different families, communities, ages, traditions, and cultures in this heart-warming story about the art of calligraphy. Discover how you can write beautifully too. 

Prepare some coloured paper, pens, scissors, and ribbons to make a paper bookmark with your handwriting on it.

Let's go on a journey of discovery with our animal friends! Who will be brave? Who will be fast? Join our Young Storyteller from The Storytelling Centre Limited to listen to the secrets of a magic tree. This story was inspired by the community of animals depicted on a betel box at ACM. 

Get some coloured paper, scissors, glue, and markers ready to craft your own animal character and continue the story at home.

Come learn about the importance of family and friendship in this storytelling workshop inspired by ACM’s heart-warming monkey family sculpture. 

Make your own monkey puppet before the workshop. You will then have the chance to recreate scenes from “The Monkey King” story, while manipulating your puppet.

The workshop will be conducted over Zoom and an email link will be sent to all participants in advance.

MINIATURE PERANAKAN KUEH CLAY-MAKING WORKSHOP

Join in the fun of making colourful mini kueh. You will create two types of kueh during the session. This workshop was inspired by the collection of objects at the Peranakan Museum, ACM’s sister institution.

Create beautiful rhythms with a tambourine you get to make yourself! Sing and dance along as we celebrate how music brings us all together. This session takes as its inspiration from the Three Friends of Winter ceramic dish at ACM, which illustrates how friendships endure, even through the harshest times.
