Fashion designers have encountered, been inspired by and imagined Asia in a variety of ways in the course of centuries. As a global fashion capital, Paris is home to designers, from the West and the East, who have attempted to tell the story of Asia in their collections. How do Paris-based designers like the late Yves St Laurent and Singaporean Andrew Gn tell stories of Asia in fashion? And how are museums in Paris and in Singapore collecting and presenting these stories? How has COVID-19 impacted both fashion and fashion in museums?
Join us for an hour-long discussion (45 min discussion with 15 min Q&A) with Paris-based Singaporean fashion designer Andrew Gn; Heritage Curator and Director of Collections, Musée Yves Saint Laurent, Paris, Aurélie Samuel, and Curator of Fashion and Textiles & Peranakan, ACM, Jackie Yoong. The discussion will be moderated by Assistant Curator of Southeast Asia, ACM, Conan Cheong.
(Programme will be live and available for subsequent viewing on ACM’s Facebook page a few hours after live streaming has concluded)
